Our Environment

Busy Bees Alfriston Road has a cosy nursery, separate toddler centre and an adventurous kindergarten environment. Each area has their own separate outdoor space providing endless opportunities to explore the natural environment. We promote the development of active and confident learners who think, question, seek information and apply knowledge to the best of their ability. Our team strongly value relationships with our childcare centre whānau and wider community. This is something that we hold close to our hearts and incorporate into our programme on a daily basis.

At Busy Bees Alfriston Road, we believe that as an early education centre, we have an important part to play in our local community and a very special opportunity to positively impact the lives of our young tamariki in their early stages of development. We celebrate whanaungatanga by connecting with our community through multicultural celebrations, and creating a sense of belonging, where everyone has a place, no matter what culture they identify with. Our curriculum reflects our philosophy for strong relationships and we absolutely love coming together with our tamariki, whānau and community to strengthen our relationships with one another.

Our teachers and team members at Busy Bees Alfriston Road are wonderful, amazing people who have been selected based on their experience and passion within the Early Learning field, their professional knowledge of teaching and nurturing young children as well as their philosophy of education and knowledge of child development.

Our inhouse cook provides freshly made meals for children each day using our Nourish menus and recipes, based on the New Zealand Heart Foundation Tohu Manawa Ora | Healthy Heart Award for Early Learning Centres. We believe that through nourishing food, children are fueled to thrive physically and mentally, whilst enjoying the benefits of coming together and connecting as a group at mealtimes.

Teachers also do regular baking with the tamariki, which provides them opportunities to engage and learn a range of food preparations skills and fine motor movements such as pouring, sifting, spooning. It is a great hands on sensory experience for children to develop independence through self-help skills, practice simple maths as they measure and count quantities.

We proudly operate our own Busy Bees Alfriston Road centre van, allowing us to help support both new and existing families who require assistance with transport to and from the childcare centre. We also utilise this awesome resource for excursions out and about in our local Manurewa East community!

Our Curriculum

The programme at Busy Bees Alfriston Road reflects the principles, goals and learning outcomes of Te Whāriki the New Zealand bi-cultural Early Childhood Curriculum. This curriculum covers the education and childcare of children from birth to school age and clearly reflects the concept of learning as a lifelong process that begins at the very start of life. Our teachers follow this to work alongside your child to plan and extend on their learning. This celebrates the uniqueness of each child and the value we hold in the contribution of family/whānau in their child’s learning.
